0

If you’ve found this article by searching for “mariwana” online then you have come to the right place. Because chances are that you are new to the world of marijuana or the more modern term of cannabis.

Learning about how cannabis transitioned from a widely used medicinal herb in antiquity to a schedule one substance and then back again to the most widely used recreational drug today is worth knowing.

Get started on your marijuana journey by continue reading.

Cannabis as an Ancient Herb and Fiber

The history of marijuana is a long one that began as early as 500 BC in Asia or further back 5,000 years were burnt hemp seeds were discovered in a Romanian archeological site.

There is enough proof to show that the cannabis sativa plant was used as a medicine in ancient times.

Fast forward to colonial America when it is believed that the Spanish brought hemp plants to the new world to grow. This crop was essential for the use of its fiber in clothing, ropes, and even paper.

Mariwana Origins

It wasn’t until the early 20th century that marijuana got its bad reputation. This was caused by the Mexican Civil War where refugees began to flee legally to the states, bringing smokable pot with them.

This was the first time Americans saw that the consumption of marijuana was associated with the flood of immigrants to the country. The created racial prejudices toward immigrants as well as the offensive name of marijuana.

Politicians used the term to ostracize people of color while blaming cannabis, immigrants, and new music such as jazz on the changing times.

Beginning of “Reefer Madness” and Prohibition

As the popularity of smoking cannabis increased among the younger population so did marijuana laws to stop its spread.

It began with the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937 where all production of hemp was stopped. This led to a large marketing campaign led by Harry Anslinger to impose the stigma of marijuana as a violent drug used by criminals and rapists.

Then in 1970, Former President Richard Nixon placed marijuana under the Controlled Substance Act, making it a felony to consume and sell the herb.

A Cultural Rebellion and Renaissance

In the 1960s, a cultural revolution, including the civil rights movement, occurred that some might attribute to the wide-spread use of cannabis. This paved the way for marijuana legalization. It also developed into a sub-culture of cannabis activism.

It also developed the artistic aspect of marijuana use with the creation of glass pipes, tie-dye T-shirts, and experimental music.

The Rise of Modern Marijuana

Advocates of cannabis multiplied over the next few decades to finally giving way to new medicinal marijuana legalization. It also led to other forms of cannabis like CBD oils, edibles, and vaporizers. More products opened up the market to a larger and diverse population.

Booming Markets and the Future of Cannabis

The latest step toward full legalization was in 2018 when the Farm Bill revived hemp production to begin in the U.S. This legislation, along with public acceptance and state legalization, created a $9 billion industry in 2019

Staying Current on Cannabis

Knowing not to call cannabis “mariwana” is just the beginning of your lesson. Cannabis laws, markets, and trends change all the time.

Copaiba vs CBD: What’s the Difference?

0

Perhaps you’ve heard of the excretion from a legume tree in South America known as copaiba oil.

It’s risen in popularity due to the fact that some consider it a potential treatment for inflammation, similar to CBD.

How do the two plant substances relate and differ? Keep reading to find out more about copaiba vs CBD to find out.

What’s the Deal With Copaiba?

Copaiba, in final form after extraction, ends up as an oil-resin or essential oil.

It’s used as aromatherapy by being inhaled or diffused. It can also be taken orally with a few drops under the tongue or used topically as an oil mixed with carrier oils.

The main claim-to-fame that copaiba has is its potential anti-inflammatory effects, according to research on rats. Unfortunately, research on copaiba is limited and the fact that most studies are on rats doesn’t prove the overall effectiveness of it as a potential treatment.

Still, many claim that it has the potential benefits of:

  • Antimicrobial effects
  • Antiseptic effects
  • Relieving pain from arthritis
  • Contraception
  • Lessening mouth problems (e.g. tooth decay and gum diseases)
  • Improving mood by reducing stress
  • Healing wounds

It’s also used in cosmetic products aimed at reducing acne. However, there’s little research proving that these claims are true.

Copaiba vs CBD

Both products come from plants, potentially reduce inflammation and other unrelated issues, and are at the forefront of natural remedies.

This may be due to the fact that they both have beta-caryophyllene. This is a terpene that may cause anti-inflammatory effects in each of these products.

However, the similarities end there. While the two are sometimes grouped together, they are completely different products for the following reasons.

Differences Between the Two Products

First, CBD has a larger scope of ailments that it may potentially treat. This includes insomnia, psychotic disorders, and substance abuse disorders, among many others.

Additionally, CBD has more options available in terms of how you consume it. In addition to taking it sublingually (i.e. under the tongue), inhaling its vapors, and using it topically, it can be smoked. It can also come in various forms, such as isolate, broad-spectrum, and full-spectrum.

As such, the spectrum CBD products offer other beneficial plant components like flavonoids, terpenes, and potentially over a hundred different cannabinoids. This may allow for the entourage effect, the idea that CBD works better with other parts of the Cannabis Sativa L. present

Copaiba, on the other hand, doesn’t have research suggesting that it has these components or the potential benefits of the entourage effect.

Finally, the amount of research done on CBD far outweighs that of copaiba. Still, the research available for each of these plant products shows that both are likely safe.

Stay Up-To-Date With Current Research

Now that you know a little more about copaiba vs CBD, you can keep your eyes peeled for the research that is to come surrounding both of these plant compounds.

In general, it seems that CBD may be more effective for potentially treating various ailments. There’s bound to be more research on these two products as time continues, so that conclusion could change in due time.

How to Make Kief Butter | Top Cannabutter Recipe

0

As Cannabis gets more popular, users are looking for better, more convenient ways of consuming their marijuana. Kief butter, if you haven’t already tried it, is a super delicious way of consuming cannabis in one of its most potent forms, Kief.

Kief is the small, shiny crystals that typically fall of Cannabis. Often times, the Kief falls off during grinding. This is why most modern weed grinders have a small compartment in the bottom to collect this. Kief is considered by many to be one of the best parts of the Cannabis plant and it can be consumed by smoking, eating, and more.

Kief Butter Recipe Ingredients

Before you get started making your very own Kief butter you’ll need a few things. Fortunately, this recipe only calls for two ingredients:

  • 2 Lbs of Unsalted Butter
  • 3 Grams of decarboxylated Kief

You can adjust the measurements of these two ingredients to make a larger or small batch.

Kief Butter Cooking Instructions

More frequently than not, if you have kief, it probably isn’t already decarboxylated.

How to decarboxylate Kief

  1. Preheat the oven to 260 degrees Fahrenheit (or 127 degrees Celsius)
  2. Put the kief in an oven-safe container (like a Pyrex) and cover it with tinfoil.
  3. Allow the container to cook for about 45 minutes.
  4. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes.

Once you have your decarboxylated kief its time to start making your kief butter

Kief Butter Directions

  1. Put the butter in a small saucepan and heat the pan until it is completely melted.
  2. Add the decarboxylated kief to the melted butter and mix until it has completely dissolved.
  3. Remove the mixture from the heat source
  4. Pour the melted kief butter into a container for freezing. Ice trays work well but make sure the ice tray is made of a material that won’t be melted from the hot butter.
  5. Place in the freezer for at least 2 hours.

Once the butter has cooled enough for consumption it is ready. Kief butter can stay good in the freezer for several months.
